Pick the Fifteen Seconds of Your Song Before You Post Anything

A dark graphic cover with an orange waveform and the headline Pick fifteen seconds. Repeat.

Before a release, most artists post a different part of the song every time. A bit of the intro on Monday, the second verse on Wednesday, the bridge because it sounded good that day. Each post works on its own. Together, they never give a listener one thing to remember.

The tip: choose one stretch of about fifteen seconds and use it in every teaser until release day.

Why one moment works

Someone scrolling hears your song for a few seconds, maybe twice in a week, maybe three times. If those seconds are always the same, the part starts to feel familiar. When the full song comes out, they recognize it, and recognition is what makes someone stop and press play.

Repetition is how a stranger learns a song before it comes out.

How to pick it

Play the song from the start and stop at the first moment you want to sing along. That is usually your candidate. Check that it makes sense without context, with no long build up before it and no lyric that only works after the verse. Then export that stretch as its own audio file and give it a name you will find in a second.

Where it goes

The same fifteen seconds go under the Reels, the Stories, the short clips and the vertical loop, if your platform lets you add one. The image can change every time: a rehearsal, the cover, a walk, a lyric on screen. The sound stays.

Fifteen seconds is a starting point. Some platforms allow more, and some moments are shorter. What matters is that it is always the same moment.

What changes

Planning gets lighter. You stop choosing what to post from a whole song and only choose the picture. And on release day, the people who saw the teasers already know the part they are waiting for.

If you are working on a first release and want help with the pieces around the song, the visuals and the plan, that is the kind of project we work on.
