Deezer Will Let Listeners Hide AI Music. What Artists Should Check.

On October 13, 2026, Deezer announced a toggle that hides fully AI-generated music from search results. It is not live yet. The company says it will be available before the end of 2026, in every market it operates in.
What Deezer announced
When a listener turns the toggle on, fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists are left out of search results. Turning it off brings them back.
Two limits matter for artists. The filter covers search, not just recommendations, and it targets music that is fully AI-generated. Deezer says music with limited AI-assisted elements inside a broader human creative process is “treated differently,” and does not explain how.
Deezer already tags fully AI-generated albums and keeps them out of algorithmic and editorial recommendations. According to the company, more than 42 million such tracks were excluded between January 2025 and August 2026.
The numbers behind it
All figures below come from Deezer’s own announcement, so they describe Deezer’s platform and Deezer’s view.
- Nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks are delivered to Deezer every day, over half of daily deliveries on peak days.
- Those tracks are 1 to 3% of streams, and Deezer says up to 85% of their streams were fraudulent in 2025.
- In a Deezer/Ipsos survey of 9,000 people in eight countries, 45% said they want to filter out fully AI-generated music, and 97% could not tell it apart from human music in a blind test.
The toggle does not judge how you made your record. It judges what the platform has tagged.
What it changes for an independent artist
For most artists nothing changes today. A human-made record is not the target. The practical risk sits at the edge: detection is automated, the line between “fully” and “assisted” is not published, and a wrongly tagged release would lose search visibility on a service with a filter switched on.
What an artist can do:
- Keep the paper trail of how the record was made: session files, stems, project files, dates. If a track is ever questioned, that is the proof.
- Be exact in the credits you deliver to your distributor, including any AI-assisted element.
- Check your own Deezer profile and releases for anything tagged you did not expect, and ask your distributor how to contest a tag.
- Keep a human presence in the release itself: performance footage, process, a face and a voice. Detectors judge audio. A listener who finds you still needs a reason to stay.
One caution. The toggle is announced, not shipped. How detection works and how appeals work will only be clear once it is live, so read Deezer’s rules again then.
